Personnel system logs out of Air Force

AIR Force’s venerable Air Force Personnel and Establishments Management System (AFPEMS) has been decommissioned after more than two decades of operation.

Following the introduction of PMKeyS in 2001, Air Force has been progressively working towards removing the AFPEMS legacy system, based on a “no going back” philosophy.

Air Force has now achieved this important milestone with the help of other agencies within Defence including Director General Personnel Systems and Information Systems Division. It now has a fully integrated PMKeyS personnel management environment that benefits members and the organisation as a whole.

AFPEMS was originally introduced in 1981 as a computer-based system, designed to provide the then-RAAF Personnel Division and commands with the means to record and view personnel data electronically.

In tandem with the introduction of PMKeys, Personnel Branch, through the Directorate of Military Administration-Air Force has worked hard to ensure the proper archiving of all AFPEMS data.
