Defence bikers to take on the Mont

DEFENCE mountain bike riders are invited to join ADF teams competing in The Mont Australian 24-hour mountain bike race.

The world’s longest distance 24-hour mountain bike race, the event will be held in Kowen Forest, Canberra, from October 8-9.

While most entries are now closed, the ADF has been able to secure a limited number of sponsored positions for ADF competitors.

There will be no entry cost for these positions and the entry includes Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) day licences and insurance, access to a corporate tent, an accommodation area, heater, and night riding lights on loan to the team.

ADF riders who have entered through a civilian team will not be reimbursed but can offer their position to someone else and join a Defence team at no cost.

Interested cyclists should contact their respective Service coordinator with the following details:

  • Personal particulars
  • Contact details
  • Level of experience
  • Preferred team – solo, 2,3,4 or 6

For more information contact Squadron Leader Merryl King on (02) 6266 7317 or email merryl.king@defence.gov.au. Information on the race is at http://www.corc.asn.au/24hr/.
