ADF logistics doctrine now available to learn online

DEFENCE logistics has gone online.

Joint Logistics Command, in conjunction with DMO, and with significant technical input from Army’s Training Technology Centre, has developed the first part of an e-learning product designed to provide a learning resource for the whole of Defence.

The introductory modules on logistics in Defence, or the IMLD as it is called, have been available online at Defence Online CAMPUS – http://defweb.cbr.defence.gov.au/det/campus – since March 29. The product is designed for all personnel who need to understand fundamental logistic issues in Defence.

The IMLD content is based on current logistic doctrine contained in the ADDP 4 series and policies and procedures applicable to the Services and Groups and, in many cases, examples of their application are included. A glossary of all reference material is provided the package is regularly updated.

The package is a learning environment first, but, as well, it is an up-to-date information package. This means that whether personnel are new to logistics or just need refreshing, the IMLD does it all. The IMLD site is also interactive so personnel don’t just read from the screen.

This is the first part of the product and the next two segments of the product, currently under development, focus on logistics support to capability and logistics support to operations. These lessons, to be launched later in the year, will be scenario-based.
