OF
THE three services, Air Force showed the highest response rate
to the attitude survey and the highest level of satisfaction
with military life.
Its a result Director General Workforce Planning, Recruitment
and Retention Air Commodore Lee Roberts believes is a reflection
of the Services personnel focus in recent years. But that
doesnt mean theres no need for new initiatives.
Weve seen improvements for quite a number of years
now and there is a good level of personnel satisfaction,
AIRCDRE Roberts says. But we really havent seen
much more improvement since the last survey and cant afford
to be complacent.
One area of concern for Air Force personnel has to do with a
lack of respite postings for the operationally active musterings.
The problem with Air Force is that it has a rather narrow
group of people who actually get deployed all the time,
AIRCDRE Roberts explains.
Its a problem that the Air Force leadership is taking
very seriously. Initiatives to take the pressure off are currently
on the drawing board and AIRCDRE Roberts is optimistic that
the outcomes will be positively reflected in future surveys.
The Director General Personnel - Air Force, Air Commodore Ken
Birrer and his staff will be assessing the survey responses
and providing feedback in future editions of Air Force newspaper.
