THE
Chief of the Air Force, Air Marshal Angus Houston, will be the
next Chief of the Defence Force.
He will replace General Peter Cosgrove, who is retiring after
more than 40 years service, on July 4. AIRMSHL Houston will be
the first CAF to serve as CDF since the position was created in
its current form in 1984. He will be promoted to the rank of Air
Chief Marshal when he takes up the position.
The appointment will mark the culmination of a career with the
Air Force which started as a cadet pilot in 1970.
