Our thoughts

CONDOLENCES

These are just a few of the online condolence messages. Visit www.raaf.gov.au/Kanimbla/condolences_list.htm for more.

I had the pleasure of spending the best four months of my RAAF career with Wendy, overseas on our deployment to the MEAO. We shared a room ... and I have to say I have never bonded with anyone so quickly and so completely ever. Cheryle Bland

I was in charge of an aircraft maintenance crew in the same area as Wendy, who was “our” medic... Not once was anyone met with anything but warm enthusiasm by Wendy. I think this sums her up; she was the most professional and caring medic I have ever come across in my 18 years in service.
Deano Worsley

I only saw [SGT Wendy Jones] about 10 days before her crash. We were having a laugh and that is how I will remember her.
Clayton Wilson

I was Paul’s commanding officer from the beginning of 2003... and I cannot speak highly enough of Paul... I regard him as one of the nicest people I have ever met.
Stephen Bonney

I remember [SQNLDR Paul McCarthy] telling me, without any dramatic emphasis, about how he planned to row across the Atlantic - as if it was no more than a walk down the local shops... please remember that the world is a far better place as a result of [all the members’] efforts.
Ewan Regazzo

I will always remember [Paul] fondly as a great mate, a gentle loving giant, a gifted sportsman who loved the water, a compassionate caring doctor (and a dreadful drummer).
Russ Galloway

Lynne always complained the weather in Melbourne was too cold, but she left a warm place in all of our hearts.
Chris Potter

I had the wonderful opportunity of working with Lynne last year as well as being treated by her... Because of her help, I am coping wonderfully ... and I feel blessed to have known such a wonderful woman.
Renee Smith

[FLTLT Lynne Rowbottom’s] good nature, willing attitude and ready wit in even the most trying times was a Godsend.
Susan Simpkins

Of course no words can remove the deep sadness that we can only imagine is felt by the families. We can only say that these beautiful men and women died feeling proud and strong and were admired by so many.
Michelle Smith
