THE Physical and Recreational Training section of RAAF Base Williams, Laverton, has won the base’s team award for 2004.

The Base Commander awards the honour to the section or team which has performed exceptionally and has consistently exceeded requirements.

Flight Sergeant Danny Smythe said his team went above and beyond their daily duties to accommodate the recent ADF basketball championships and were playing their part in promoting the qualities required in a proud, competitive, healthy and fit Air Force.

“Throughout the year they worked hard to develop esprit de corps and camaraderie across the base with a range of sporting challenges, a boxing tournament and a body transformation challenge” FSGT Smythe said.

Sergeant Darrin Tapp, the section’s senior NCO, described the team as “outstanding”. He said the team members always endeavoured to excel and deliver outstanding classes, programs and challenges.

“I am privileged to work with a creative, dedicated and professional group of people and I could not be more proud of our efforts over the past 12 months,” SGT Tapp said.
