CONSISTENTLY
good sailing has helped an Air Force and a Navy officer win the
ACT Tasar championships.
Flight Lieutenant Nick Grey teamed up with Commander Martin Linsley
to take the championships over two days of sailing at Batemans
Bay on the NSW South Coast last month.
The first days sailing proved very challenging and while forecast
30-40 knot winds did not blow, gusts reached 25-30 knots from all
directions.
The pair had a good start, finishing second in the first race.
Strong winds continued for the second and third race, which took
its toll on the fleet with a few retirees.
However, the winds did not stop FLTLT Grey and CMDR Linsley going
on to finish the day with two wins and a second.
The final day of sailing brought steady winds at 5 to 10 knots,
resulting in much closer racing through the whole fleet, but FLTLT
Grey and CMDR Linsley managed to retain their lead to take out the
title.
