“I felt we had the ascendancy for most of the game, maintaining a two- to six-point lead, but to NSW’s credit they never gave up and prevented us from gaining a match-winning lead,” MIDN Bounty said.

“Early in the final quarter we struggled against an uneven foul count (5-0), which put key ACT players in foul trouble and sent the NSW girls to the line for free throws. At the end of the day, a well-coached NSW team were in front when it counted.”

LACW Edwards pulled her team away in the final minute to take victory.

Thirteen Air Force players have been selected for the men’s and women’s national basketball sides that will contest the Arafura Games in May.

Eight Air Force women will make up two-thirds of the women’s side and four Air Force men will contribute to a quarter of the men’s team.
