Alan Beaumont, former CDF and the first Australian to receive
three awards in the Order of Australia.

A FUNERAL has been held for former CDF Admiral Alan Beaumont.
He died last month after being ill for some time. A memorial service
was held at St Paul’s Anglican Chapel at RMC Duntroon in Canberra
on September 28.
ADML Beaumont was the first Australian to receive three awards
in the Order of Australia – in 1982, 1989 and 1992. His Navy career
began in 1948.
He served in the Vietnam conflict, with the Royal Navy and the
United States Navy. ADML Beaumont held several senior posts. These
included Assistant Chief of Defence Force (Personnel) and Vice
Chief of Defence Force.
He retired from his CDF role in 1995, position he had held since
1993. He is survived by his second wife, Justine, and four children
from a previous marriage. He was born in 1934.
