Challenge to Navy in golf finals

AIR FORCE golfers have held off challenges from five teams from their sister Services to clinch a place in the grand final of the Sir David Martin golf competition on November 8.

Air Force defeated HMAS Kuttabul 5/2 to advance to the final for the second successive year.

Corporal Keith Wheeler, was a standout player. Warrant Officer Murray Spriggs said the standard of play had improved from last year. “This was evident as Air Force’s position as the second-placed team was determined on a count back,” WOFF Spriggs said.

Navy clinched first place with an individual score of 46 points compared to 41.

“HMAS Albatross narrowly beat us last year, however, we intend to turn that result around and defeat Navy in the grand final,” WOFF Spriggs said.

Air Force will play Navy in the final at the Camden Valley Golf Resort.
