York’s marathon in November is within Squadron Leader Dave Banham’s
sight after accomplishing London’s marathon earlier this year.
SQNLDR Banham is a fighter controller who is serving with the
Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom. He ran in the London marathon
to raise $1000 for the RAF benevolent fund, which supports past
and present RAF members and their families.
He said running past the famous sights of London – such as Big
Ben, London Bridge and Buckingham Palace – helped the 42km go
by.
He was surprised with his time of 3:21. “I didn’t really do the
training you’re supposed to but got through it okay – just,” he
said.
He now plans to run in the New York marathon and hopes to raise
a similar amount of money for a children’s charity.
