SQNLDR Dave Banham, a RAAF fighter controller on exchange in the UK, runs the London Marathon for charity.

NEW York’s marathon in November is within Squadron Leader Dave Banham’s sight after accomplishing London’s marathon earlier this year.

SQNLDR Banham is a fighter controller who is serving with the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom. He ran in the London marathon to raise $1000 for the RAF benevolent fund, which supports past and present RAF members and their families.

He said running past the famous sights of London – such as Big Ben, London Bridge and Buckingham Palace – helped the 42km go by.

He was surprised with his time of 3:21. “I didn’t really do the training you’re supposed to but got through it okay – just,” he said.

He now plans to run in the New York marathon and hopes to raise a similar amount of money for a children’s charity.
