THE story of “Lady Be Good” has formed the basis for a major opera – sung in English – to be performed in Sydney during October.

Madeline Lee tells of an American B-17 Flying Fortress that is found in the desert in 1963. A team is sent to investigate and the Major in charge is shocked to find it is the “Madeline Lee”, an aircraft he once commanded.

The discovery of an aircraft he claims crashed into the sea after being badly damaged sets in train a shocking chain of events that forces him to confront his own demons from the war.

It explores the experience and emotions of the men. Opera Australia performs Madeline Lee at the Sydney Opera House on October 8, 13, 16, 19 and 22 starting at 7.30pm.

Opera Australia is offering ADF personel tickets to the opera at $50 instead of the normal $114.

For tickets or information contact Opera Australia Ticket Services phone (02) 9318 8200, and say you are an ADF member.
