THE
icy blast of a Tasmanian winter hardly makes the island an appealing
place for training – especially if you’re deploying from RAAF
Base Amberley.
However, for two F-111 aircraft and crews from No. 6 Squadron,
Tasmania’s mountainous terrain offered the opportunity to conduct
continuation training in long-range strike procedures.
Their visit also allowed cadets from No. 503 Squadron (AAFC) to
familiarise themselves with the aircraft during an on-ground training
session at Hobart Airport.
