NEW booklet showcases the ADF’s achievements in operations. Winning
in Peace, Winning in War – the ADF’s Contribution to the Global
Security Environment covers the range of current ADF operations,
including the war against terrorism, border protection, fisheries
patrols, nation building, domestic security and indigenous support.
Defence Minister Robert Hill launched the booklet, pictured at
left, on August 25. “During the last few years Australia’s strategic
environment has fundamentally changed and the men and women of
the ADF have had to execute new, difficult and complex missions
in circumstances and locations not considered likely just a few
short years ago,” Senator Hill said.
“Our military men and women have established a superb reputation
as a force to be reckoned with, a force for good, able to mount
complex military operations in the face of grave risk, and complex
humanitarian operations at very short notice.
“ADF personnel have served with distinction and exceeded the expectations
placed upon them – in warfighting, humanitarian assistance, in
the frontline of peacekeeping and peacemaking throughout the world,
as well as support to our neighbours and friends.
“The Australian community can be proud that the ADF continues
to defend Australia and its interests so well and always offers
the hand of compassion and assistance to those less fortunate
than ourselves.”
