Logistics handbook

THE Handbook of International Logistics is now available on the Defweb. It is the principal reference on international logistics for operations and logistic planning staff at the strategic and operational levels. The document is available at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/dmoweb/Sites/SLB/. A limited number of copies have also been published and distributed to users across Defence.

Education award

DEFENCE 2020, a resource kit about the diverse range of activities undertaken by the ADF, has been judged Best Secondary Educational Resource by the Australian Teachers of Media. The kit contains multimedia resources designed to raise secondary school students’ awareness of defence issues. It includes case studies to encourage students to come to their own conclusions about the ADF’s role. The Department of Defence commissioned the kit in response to demand for information on contemporary defence matters.

Medal working party

A WORKING party will be established to investigate the level of recognition that is appropriate for service in the Korean War. The Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence, Fran Bailey, said the working party would be established to investigate the level of recognition, including the appropriateness of the award of the Australian Active Service.
