Muru now has time to spare

Murugasan Kuppusamy

Murugasan Kuppusamy

MURURGASAN Kuppusamy – or Muru as he is known – has retired after working for the Air Force at RMAF Butterworth, Malaysia, for the past 39 years.

Muru has split most of that time between managing spare parts for aircraft and managing the bar at Club 76 after. He began his career with the Air Force as a general storekeeper with Base Squadron Butterworth in 1965.

He went on to manage Caribou spares with No. 79 Squadron and Orion spares with No. 92 Wing Detachment Alpha. He ran the Kennel Club within Block 38 for many years.

He was renowned for his service, providing everything from a cool drink to his wife’s chicken curry recipe. Muru was awarded an Australia Day Medallion in 1995.
