Form improvements

DEFENCE is about to receive a new, simplified electronic forms package. The Defence Publishing Service (DPS) will progressively introduce the new software package this month with operational, maintenance and Occupational Health and Safety forms being implemented as a priority.

The new software is called eForms or, more commonly, “Informed”.

It replaces the Delrina FormFlow software, which is no longer compatible with current Defence technology. The eForms package follows standard Microsoft conventions, with common commands found under the “File” menu.

This will provide increased functionality and benefits to users, including user-friendly processes for saving and emailing data. A significant improvement is that once Informed data is saved, double-clicking on the file opens it.

The present requirement to open a blank form and then open a saved database file into it is no longer necessary. DPS is moving all existing FormFlow forms to Informed.

The forms will be available on the Defweb at http://pubsdb.cbrdps.defence.gov.au/wfs/, and for those areas without Defweb access, Web Forms on CD-ROM.

DPS is also offering a range of training for the Informed software. This includes a PowerPoint presentation for individual use, and a PDF presentation on the procedures about saving data, emailing data, working with databases and importing data into applications.

Face-to-face training will also be available on request. More information is available from Megan Weckert, the forms team leader, on (02) 6266 2290 or megan.weckert@defence.gov.au.
