AN
INTERNATIONAL Night showcased the traditional fare of Pitch Black
participants.
Royal
Thai Air Force chefs brought mussamun beef curry, fish cakes,
and chicken wings to the table at the RAAF Base Darwin airmen’s
mess. Diners enjoying the flavours of Singapore savoured curry
chicken, spring rolls and fried noodles.
The Aussie tucker prepared by Air Force chefs included tiger prawns
and crocodile in a garlic cream sauce and barbecued kangaroo sausages.
Those less game were able to try more traditional Aussie fare
of battered barramundi and griddled fillet of beef, as well as
French quiche. Social drinks included the famous Thai “mekhong”
whiskey, French kir and white wine, Singapore’s Tiger beer and
Australian ales .
“Every time we hold one of these exercises, each international
participant brings a little bit of their country to us,” said
event organiser Squadron Leader Lindsay Guerin. “Being able to
reciprocate this hospitality ... is really important for us to
develop our relationships at the working level with these Air
Forces.”
