Force cadets have the opportunity to submit bids for $500,000
of funding on behalf of their unit to undertake activities that
further their leadership and team building skills.
Fran Bailey, the Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence,
has encouraged all ADF cadets to submit proposals, by August 20,
with innovative ideas on what they want to do.
“The best thing about the Cadet Initiated Activities program is
that the ideas come from the cadets themselves and provide a real
opportunity for them to make a difference in their local cadet
community,” she said.
Cadets can also submit bids for training equipment to benefit
their unit. Some of the bids submitted over the past years include
flight simulation software, kayaks and GPS equipment.
One of the successful bidders, No. 710 Squadron in Western Australia,
undertook a personal development program involving abseiling and
team-building activities.
