SURVEILLANCE and Control Training Unit (SACTU) will celebrate its fifth anniversary on August 13. A unit parade and family open day will be held to mark the occasion.

SACTU, located within EASTROC at RAAF Base Williamtown, is responsible for the development, conduct and review of all initial and postgraduate executive, specialist officer, air surveillance operator and technician courses for the surveillance and control organisation.

It was formed on August 9, 1999, to meet the training requirements of the then Surveillance and Control Group.

The dedication of a separate unit highlighted the importance of both training and training development within the group. Meanwhile, members of SACTU’s No. 2 Air Surveillance Operator Basic Course graduated recently.

CAF Air Marshal Angus Houston presented the Outstanding Student Award to Aircraftman Joshua Barnes.”
