RAAF
Base Glenbrook personnel are getting behind LAC Bradley
King’s fundraising for the SIDS and Kids organisation.

Aircraftman Bradley King knows what it is like to experience the
loss of a child as this tragedy has struck his family twice. He
and his wife, Angela, were devastated when their son Benjamin
was stillborn on August 29 last year.
His
parents had also suffered the loss of a son, Robbie, aged three
months, who died two years before LAC King was born. To help others
dealing with a similar plight, LAC King, a CISCON at RAAF Base
Glenbrook, has been instrumental in getting ADF personnel to support
the SIDS and Kids organisation.
He approached the ADF Running and Athletics Association to enter
teams in the 2004 City to Surf in Sydney on August 8. He’s also
organising an auction of sporting memorabilia and other goods
at Glenbrook’s airmen’s mess on July 30.
“Originally I didn’t want to make it a personal issue. It’s very
hard trying to come to grips with the loss of Benjamin, but the
reason I’m doing this is because of him,” he said. “When I first saw him I could see he was the spitting image of his elder
brother [Nicholas]. I can close my eyes now and still see him.”
All proceeds from the run and auction will go to SIDS and Kids,
which provides support to people who have lost a child through
stillbirth, cot death or an accident.
LAC King is no stranger to supporting events for charity as in
2002 he and nine workmates cycled from Darwin to Tindal. They
raised $6500 and he would ideally like to raise a similar amount
for SIDS and Kids.
Runners are practising for the City to Surf. To join them, email
