LEADING
Aircraftman Bruce Brown, who died of a heart aneurism on July
2, was always keen to embrace new challenges. He had recently
begun a five-month stint with Air Force News, where he was eager
to learn about journalism – a skill to add to his photography
talents.
The final work he did for the Air Force features in articles and
photographs on this site. LAC Brown was 51. He had joined the
Air Force on April 9, 1975, and qualified as an air photo plotter.
He was promoted to LAC in 1976 and to Corporal in 1979.
In 1985 he pursued his passion, becoming an aircraftman photographer.
He was posted to RAAF Base Amberley. He discharged from the Air
Force in 1989, but re-enlisted in 2001 as a clerk supply. In 2003
he remustered to the photographic branch, graduating Dux of the
course.
He was posted supernumerary to RAAF Base East Sale. In May 2004
LAC Brown travelled with the Roulettes on their Outback Australia
tour before joining Air Force News. His funeral was held at the
Amberley Chapel on July 9. His wife Kathryn and children Timothy,
Stephanie, Felicity and Jeremy survive him.
Bruce's
last major assignment was to photograph the 16th
Hot Air Balloon Titles at Mildura.
