ON
August 2, 1954, No. 1 Recruit Training Unit was established to
provide initial training for airmen and, later, airwomen.
Since then, more than 50,000 people have graduated from 1RTU.
In celebration of the unit’s golden jubilee, CO 1RTU Wing Commander
Geoff Dittmar is hosting a members dining-in on August 4 at 7pm.
It will be held in the RAAF Base Edinburgh Sergeants’ Mess and
is open to all past and present staff members.
The guest speaker for the function is CAF Air Marshal Angus Houston.
Tickets for the function are $30, which includes a three-course
meal, pre-dinner drinks, wine with the meal and port.
Subsidised drinks will be available after the formal function.
Commemorative souvenirs and memorabilia will be offered on the
night.
Ticket numbers are limited to about 150 places. Tickets can be
purchased through Defcredit by making a payment of $30 to Account
Number 20681936 either in person or by EFTPOS (BSB 803205).
When purchasing tickets, the Defcredit staff must be advised of
the name of the ticket holder. Ticket purchases cannot be accepted
without this information.
