Climate of fear
The Day After Tomorrow
Stars Denis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal and Emmy Rossum. Directed Roland Emmerich. Rated PG.
Reviewer: CPL Damian Shovell

From the director of such greats as Godzilla and Independence Day comes Emmerich’s latest farcical foray into unstoppable forces of nature.

Going in to bat against prejudice
Wondrous Oblivion
Stars Delroy Lindo, Emily Woof, Stanley Townsend and Sam Smith.
Rated PG.
Reviewer: LT Simone Heyer

It’s just not cricket. And it’s not either – Wondrous Oblivion is a mellow, heart-warming drama about community relationships and outcasts.

Tribute to Vietnam vets
Vietnam Anzacs

Reviewer: CPL Damian Shovell

Osprey is famous for the numerous illustrated historical reference books it has produced on the uniforms, equipment and organisation of military forces throughout history.

Charting RN’s changes
Rebuilding the Royal Navy: British Warship Design Since 1945
By D. K. Brown and George Moore. Chatham Publishing. 225pp. $59.90.
Reviewer: Ross Gillett

This is an excellent visual and narrative description of the warships and auxiliaries built for the Royal Navy from the end of World War II, an era of challenge for a navy no longer the largest fleet, nor at the forefront of emerging technology.
