works have begun on a $21.6 million Defence Housing Authority
68- home development at Newcastle, NSW.
DCAF Air Vice-Marshal Roxley McLennan and Defence Housing Authority
Managing Director Keith Lyon turned the first sod on the 5.2
hectare site at the former Army Reserve training ground on May
6.
“ADF members and their families will benefit from the building
of 15 townhouses and 53 houses in an integrated development in
a highly sought after location,” AVM McLennan said. “I am delighted
that Defence personnel who may be working at RAAF Base Williamtown
or Bullecourt Barracks will be given the opportunity to live in
quality housing and make their contributions to the local community.”
The three-bedroom townhouses and four bedroom houses will include
ensuites, built in robes, informal living areas and lock up garages.”
Forty-eight homes will be completed by the end of the year, and
the remaining 20 homes finished in March 2005.
