Vapour
streams from the wings of a US Air Force F-15C as it banks over
the Top End while flying in formation with another Eagle of 12
Fighter Squadron, based at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska,
and a Hornet from No. 75 Squadron.
The aircraft are taking part in Exercise Aces North, being held
out of RAAF Bases Tindal and Darwin between May 24 and June 18.
Aces North is the culmination of No. 28 Fighter Combat Instructors’
and No. 6 Fighter Controllers’ Courses.
Some 60 aircraft, including 14 F-15s, are taking part in the exercise,
which will test the students in increasingly challenging scenarios
and enable them to gain the skills necessary for the complex Air
Defence and fighter operations of the 21st Century.
