THE
ADF Warfare Centre at RAAF Base Williamtown and Information Capability
Development Branch will host the Joint Warrior Interoperability
Demonstration (JWID2004) this month.
The demonstration, an annual event conducted since 1995, is an
initiative of the United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff, in which Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and New Zealand
as well as NATO participate.
Designed to explore emerging Command, Control, Communications,
Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR)
technologies, concepts and procedures in an operational scenario,
JWID provides an ideal “sandpit” for emerging technologies to
be trialed.
Director General Information Capability Development Branch Commodore
Peter Jones said a visitors’ week would be held from June 21-24.
“The ADF will have a significant involvement in this year’s JWID
by hosting eight Australian interoperability trials and taking
part in 16 coalition interoperability trials. The trials were
selected to address the ADF operational focus areas that were
endorsed by the Interoperability Leaders Group in July 2003. The
scenario is based around a global war on terrorism construct.”
