Our
bright achievers honoured
The
winners of the annual Air Force Proficiency and Leadership Awards
have been announced.
CAF Air Marshal Houston said it was important to recognise the
efforts of our people.
The winners for 2003 are:

The Air Force Association Trophy for the most profi cient RAAF
Active Reserve Squadron – No. 1 Airfield Defence Squadron.

The Hawker Siddeley Trophy for the most profi cient base – RAAF
Base Tindal.
-
The Duke of Gloucester Cup for the most profi cient flying squadron
– No. 38 Squadron.
-
The Markowski Cup for the most profi cient unit not eligible for
any other awards – ADF School of Languages.
-
The RAAF Maintenance Trophy for engineering and technical excellence,
and the contribution of all members to the successful completion
of allocated tasks – No. 92 Wing.

The Australian Defence Industry Leadership Award to the Offi cer
Training School graduate for outstanding leadership attributes
– Flight Lieutenant Rebecca Moore.

The Air Vice-Marshal B. A. Eaton Award for Airman/ Airwoman of
the Year – Corporal Troy Dawson, of No. 382 Expeditionary Combat
Support Squadron.
- The
Lipshut Family Bursary to assist an outstanding airman/ airwoman’s
educational goals with a view to a commission – Corporal David
Waller, of No. 6 Squadron.
“I congratulate each unit and individual award winner. You are
to be commended for your efforts and are an example to all of
the embodiment of Air Force values,” AIRMSHL Houston said.
He was heartened that although the “Air Force of 2004 bears little
resemblance to the organisation formed in 1921, there is one fundamental
aspect which hasn’t changed – the values of sacrifice, selflessness,
loyalty, comradeship and endurance”.
The awards will be presented at the Air Force Awards night on
May 13 at the Australian War
