Site for pay, conditions

By Julianne Rizzo

THE Defence Personnel Executive (DPE) is conducting a four-month trial of a new Defence Pay and Conditions web site.

The site replaces various web sites with information on pay and conditions for military and civilian personnel.
The trial will continue until June and the site’s official launch is planned for July.

Developed with input from Navy, Army and Air Force representatives, the collaborative site provides a “one-stop” environment for information on pay and conditions for the entire Australian Defence Organisation.

“Our aim is to develop a user-friendly web site that will help you to easily find and understand information on your pay and conditions,” said Roger Bacon, Director Determinations.

Sergeant Stacey Ould, of the Directorate of Military Administration-Air Force, was one of the first to provide DPE with feedback on the site.

“With all the changes currently being undertaken regarding our salary and allowances, it’s handy to have all that relevant information housed within one web site,” SGT Ould said.

“There is nothing worse than knowing a document exists somewhere on the Intranet and being unable to find it.
“I like that the home page is uncluttered, with the more frequently used links down the left hand side.”

The new web site provides an information service that currently is not available. All administrator queries will now be sent directly to the Directorate of Entitlements by lodging their questions electronically. This will speed up administration processes. Administrators can access this electronic form from the Contact Us menu on the left hand side of the web page. Forms for members and other people of the Defence community will be developed shortly.

Members are encouraged to provide feedback to ensure the web site is as user-friendly as possible. Complete the feedback form provided on the web site or emaildeterminations@defence.gov.au. The site can be found on the Defweb at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/pac/ and will soon be available on the Internet at www.defence.gov.au/dpe/pac and the Defence Outreach CD.
