SELECTED members of RAAF Base Edinburgh tested their bomb threat response capabilities recently by requalifying on the Remington R870 shotgun.

The training included a ground handling test and firing of the weapon on the base 23m range under the control of Ground Defence Section staff.

As RAAF Improvised Explosive Device Disposal Operators, the personnel from the Maritime Patrol Group and Aircraft Research and Development Unit are required to undertake regular training so they can provide support to overall base security.

Joining them on the range were Air Force and Army personnel from Joint Ammunition Logistics Organisation (JALO) Regional Services-SA, to conduct a functional test firing of the Army’s Echidna bomb disposal robot.
