vehicles (UAVs), most likely the Global Hawk, under the Defence
Capability Plan (DCP) 2004-2014 issued last week.

We

Exercises
are not a crashing bore
A

collided in mid-air over RAAF Base Tindal and a simulated
King Air took a bird strike on approach to RAAF Base Edinburgh
in crash exercises late last year.

Brilliant
wartime leader
IT
could be argued that the Royal Australian Air Force had three
major successes during the war in the Southwest Pacific from
1941 to 1945: the first defending Port Moresby in March-April
1942; the second at Milne Bay in August 1942; and the third
in the Bismarck Sea in March 1943.

Draggies
last flight
Its
been a while since Wing Commander Tom Mitchison (retd)
stepped on to an Air Force base. In fact, he recalls that the
last time was in 1975, when he left the RAAF.

Views
sought on doctrine
The
first version of the RAAFs air power doctrine was released
in 1990. Since then, three subsequent editions have been produced.
The most recent edition is the AAP1000, Fundamentals of Australian
Aerospace Power, which was released in August 2002.
