EIGHT Air Force members from Canberra took part in the recent three-day Hartley Lifecare Cycle Challenge, raising almost $3500 for the charity.

The Canberra to Charlotte’s Pass and return event was first organised by a small team of Air Force members about five years ago, and has since grown. There were more than 140 entrants this year.

Warrant Officer Nick Bandy, support vehicle driver for the team, said that the six Air Force cyclists achieved a personal best and acquitted themselves very well.

“This year the event organisers were advised by National Parks not to ride up Mt Kosciuszko due to snow drifts, however the event offered more than enough challenges for all participants,” he said.

The donation is the second large Air Force donation to Hartley Lifecare in as many months, following almost $5000 raised by six members at the Hartley Kite Festival in September.
