Air Commodore Kevin Parker
Air Commodore Kevin Parker
A FORMER Specialist Reservist has followed in the footsteps of Sir Ninian Stephen and NSW Justice David Hunt in accepting a prestigious position with the United Nations.

Air Commodore Kevin Parker (ret’d) was sworn in as a Permanent Judge with the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia at The Hague on December 4 after recommendation by Prime Minister John Howard earlier in the year.

AIRCDRE Parker, who was a Senior Specialist Reserve legal officer with No. 25 (City of Perth) Squadron, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career.

After graduating from the University of Western Australia he joined the Citizen Air Force in 1959. Transferring to the Specialist Reserve he continued serving until 1997.

He was Judge Advocate from 1977 to 1985 and Reviewing Judge Advocate between 1979 and 1981. Other significant duties included ADC (Air) to the Governor of Western Australia from 1965 to 1970 and ADC (Air) to the Queen from 1979 to 1981.

AIRCDRE Parker has extensive experience in UN and international legal arenas. His last position was a Judge of the WA Supreme Court.

His appointment is a first for the Air Force and the Reserves.
