WE
here at Air Force News understand that its not always easy
to know how to send us your sports without putting the team on
the plane to tackle us here in Canberra.
We have streamlined the way to get your action-packed sports on
to the pages as quickly and reliably as possible.
The following is a step-by-step guide to showing the rest what
youre made of:
If it is a big event call us. We will plan some support for you
and space on the pages.
Any type of sport is welcome, as are all types of teams.
A good strong photograph will increase the opportunity to have
your image published. Send your photos 250-350 KB jpeg file size.
We can size, colour-correct and crop your images to fit space
if required. (Set your digital camera so the file size for your
photo is at the highest resolution or 300dpi, and do not height
or width restrict your images.)
The DRN restricts file sizes over 1.5MB, so send only two or three
photos at the recommended jpeg file size to ensure they wont
be blocked at the gateway.
Write a caption. Tell us what is happening and who is in the photo.
Include the persons rank, first name, last name and the
unit and team they belong to.
Hard copies can be sent and we will scan them. Include a self-addressed
envelope to ensure speedy return.
When scanning an image yourself, the same sizing rules apply as
with digital cameras.
You are welcome to burn images to a CD and send them in and we
will return the CD to you.
So what about the writing? Potential Ray Ramano sports writers
can send their written contributions any possible way that word
can be seen by the naked eye.
The golden rules are: include full team name; persons rank,
first name, last name and the unit they belong to. At the least,
write 150 words on the game or event.
All sports material should be sent to Michael Weaver Sports Editor,
Service Newspapers, R8-LG-040, Russell Offices, Canberra. Phone
