TRAINING
of ADF and Defence civilian Clerical and Administrative (C&A)
personnel could soon be consolidated into a common Australian
Defence Organisation (ADO) training environment.
John Murray, Assistant Director Training Projects, said Defence
Education, Training and Development Branch had been conducting
a consultative research and analysis feasibility review of the
ADO clerical and administrative training environment since March
2001.
Mr Murray said the review aimed to address the current and future
requirements for C&A training provided to ADO employees.
It recognised the pivotal role of C&A personnel in the ADO,
the need for an effective, efficient and skilled ADO C&A environment,
and the identification of future consolidated C&A training
options.
Most recently, a competency mapping analysis of the C&A
workplace and training environment was completed in August, which
identified a range of national competency standards suitable for
consideration, Mr Murray said.
He said an Options Development Study Team (ODST) would deliver
a range of training options for delivery of C&A training this
month, taking into account the requirements of all groups and
services.
The review is a dedicated training rationalisation feasibility
activity, with no charter, scope or direction to investigate C&A
staff pay or conditions. A final report covering the ODST options
and cost-analysis outcomes will be presented to the Training Policy
and Projects Group for consideration in early 2004.
