Keeping
up with technology
THE
systems delivered with acquisitions such as the AP-3C and the Joint
Strike Fighter represent a significant leap in the level of technology
available in the ADF.
Personnel in positions such as Force Element Group capability development,
DMO project offices or Capability Systems can ensure they have sufficient
knowledge of new technologies through the Aircraft Integrated Systems
Course (AISC).
AISC is not just a technology course covering aerospace systems
and communications, but also arms graduates with an appreciation
of the systems procurement lifecycle and incorporates a test and
evaluation element.
Weapons-Systems Flight, based at the School of Air Navigation (SAN)
at RAAF Base East Sale, runs the course and draws on the expertise
of a wide variety of specialists.
The next course will be held next year from April 29-July 16 for
the correspondence phase and July 19-October 8 for the residential
phase.
The correspondence phase is conducted at the students units.
This phase can be started earlier than the advertised date, if required
for work reasons.
The residential phase is conducted at the SAN and includes visits
spanning four weeks to various defence industries, ADF organisations
and DSTO.
Students may request Recognition of Prior Learning for both phases
of the course.
If your position does or will shortly require knowledge of aerospace
sensors, communications, procurement and/or test and evaluation
you can obtain further details of the AISC content and requirements
online at (on the Defweb) http://intranet.defence.gov.au/raafweb/Sites/SAN/
or by contacting Flight Lieutenant Paul Wilkinson on (03) 5146 6455.
