HAVE
you ever wondered how your salary package compares to the outside
world?
How do you think your superannuation package stacks up? What would
another employer have to offer you to match your current ADF salary
package?
For personnel contemplating separation from the Air Force or for
those who are curious, the Comparative Employment Value Adjustable
Model (CEVAM) provides the answers in a do-it-yourself computer
questionnaire that gives you a salary figure to compare with jobs
outside the ADF.
The results from the latest Your Say Survey indicate the majority
of Air Force members are unaware of the existence of the CEVAM.
Of those who are aware, many are unsure about how reliable it
is. Others may know what benefits ADF employment provides, but
lack information on how it compares to civilian employment.
For
comparisons, CEVAM uses information from the Australian Bureau
of Statistics. CEVAM looks at the dollar value of:
CEVAM
is designed to provide a realistic comparison with employment
outside the ADF.
Comparisons are based on ADF members taxable income only
so that tax deductions for various types of jobs doesnt
interfere with the calculations. The spreadsheet/questionnaire
is adjustable so that you can select your own personal circumstances
from a range of options.
CEVAM provides only a general guide to the value of ADF remuneration
and broad comparisons with other employment groups. Users of this
information are advised to consult a qualified financial adviser
before deciding on any future career plans.

Base
visits
THE
Personnel Strategy Implementation team will visit all bases to
provide more in depth and up-to-date reports on its projects.
Implementation of the Personnel Strategy will affect all Air Force
people.
The most significant effect will be the launch of People Central,
the interactive, web-based portal designed to be the one-stop
shop for all personnel management issues.
No matter what rank or position you hold, you are strongly encouraged
to attend one of the briefings so that you have a better idea
of how you will be affected when the changes are made.
As well as People Central, the presentations will cover RAAF Individual
Career Plans, Job Search and Expressions of Interest.
After the initial part of the presentation there will be an additional
element for officers that covers Any Officer employment and Sub-Specialisations.
There will be ample opportunity for questions.
Presentations
were scheduled at Tindal, Darwin and Pearce from November 17-19.
