Heritage
awards under review
THE
RAAF Heritage Awards have been suspended until 2005. CAF has agreed
to the suspension because a review is under way into all aspects
of the awards to ensure they meet Air Force’s requirements while
remaining attractive to the wider community.
The review should be completed by December, but this will not allow
time for the recommendations to be implemented for the RAAF Heritage
Awards to proceed in 2004.
Wing Commander Nigel Biginell at AFHQ is conducting the review,
which involves wide consultation within the Air Force and the broader
community. The RAAF Annual Heritage Awards began in 1987 with the
aims of enhancing our historical records and art, and to foster
and encourage interest in the Air Force’s heritage.
There are three categories of entries – art, literature and photography.
In recent years, entries have decreased in each category. Input
into the review should be provided to WGCDR Biginell at nigel.biginell@defence.gov.au
by November 28.
Information on the revamped Heritage Awards will be issued early
in 2004.
