THE Hawk 127 Lead-in Fighter has been cleared to conduct live

following completion of the Hawk Environmental Impact Statement
(EIS) on the new jets.

WHEN
Point Cook was selected in 1913 as the site for a military
flying school, its access by sea as well as land was a telling
factor. One of the few disadvantages of direct sea access
was revealed on October 16 when a World War II-era mine was
discovered on Point Cook beach.

MORE
than 60 Air Force personnel were welcomed home by family and
friends at RAAF Base Townsville last week after spending three
months contributing to the Regional Assistance Mission to

THE
RAAF Heritage Awards have been suspended until 2005. CAF has
agreed to the suspension because a review is under way into
all aspects of the awards to ensure they meet Air Force’s
requirements while remaining attractive to the wider community.

Airspace
reform’s next stage
STAGE
2B of the National Airspace (NAS) Reform will be implemented
on November 27. 2B is the next step in a plan to make the
Australian NAS system reflect the US NAS regulations, providing
for easier commercial and Defence interoperability.
