Noosa beckons for triathletes

By WO2 Greg Young

DEFENCE Force triathletes are wanted to compete in the world’s best sporting festival, which includes the Noosa Olympic Distance Triathlon.

On November 2, the Australian Services Triathlon Association (ASTA), with the help of sponsors, will provide race singlets valued at $45 free of charge to all members of the ADF competing in this race.

Up to 3,500 triathletes will take to the water as individuals or as team members for the 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run. The field will consist of novice triathletes to the professionals, with each person racing for their own personal reasons.

The novice or first-timer will be just happy to cross the finish line some 3-1/2 hours later, while the professionals will be looking towards the Olympic Games in 2004.

The Noosa Triathlon gives all members of the Defence Force an opportunity to compete with the best; you can form a team with your friends or try the race as an individual.

All members who intend to enter this race should contact WO2 Greg Young on (02) 9600 4266 or email greg.young2@defence.gov.au to register.

The team will assemble at 4pm on Saturday, November 1 in the registration area in the Noosa Triathlon Festival Village. Team uniforms will be given out and all members will be required to be in the team photo.
Team manager is Captain Dave Little, who can be contacted on (07) 3332 6133.
