THERE
was standing room only when 146 people attended a Recruiting Information
Day at No. 25 Squadron (City of Perth) on August 23.
The future Active Reservists each responded to an advertising campaign,
run specifically to recruit five operations officers and 10 general
hands.
Senior Reserve Recruiting Officer Flight Lieutenant Dave Mustard
welcomed the group on behalf of the Commanding Officer, then introduced
the members of Recruiting Flight, Operations Flight and Airfield
Protection Flight.
Flight Sergeant JJ Fullelove provided a presentation covering all
aspects of 25 SQN, requirements of a Reserve Force member and procedures
for entry into the Active Reserve.
The 100 general hand prospects then boarded two coaches for a tour
of the base, which included Air Movements, the Flight Line and the
Base Gymnasium with arrival at the Airmens Mess for lunch.
Meanwhile the 46 potential OPSO prospects received a comprehensive
briefing from Squadron Leader Peter Gould and Officer Cadet Rox
Dawson.
This was followed by a tour of a P-3 Orion, which was visiting RAAF
Base Pearce as part of Operation Swordfish.
Following lunch, the two groups reversed the morning program, with
the GHAND prospects receiving some hands-on weapons and vehicle
appreciation at the Ground Defence Section.
The day culminated with a Next Step recruiting presentation
from FSGT Fullelove.
Sergeant Helen McGuire provided a 25 SQN Letter of Introduction
to Defence Force Recruiting - Perth upon departure.
FLTLT Mustard said it looks like all direct entry targets will be
met by December.
This kind of day takes a lot of planning and assistance. Its
a great example of being part of the Pearce team everyone
chips in and as always, a fantastic job was done by all areas around
the base including CSIG, Transfield and mess staff, said FLTLT
Mustard.
