The
new-look Air Force web site.
|
IF
you have visited the Air Force Internet web site lately you will
have noticed a difference.
Phase One of the new Air Force Internet web site has been available
on-line since July.
The development of the new site has come about since the official
establishment of the Air Force Communication and Reputation Management
Team.
Director of Coordination - Air Force Group Captain Grant MacDonald
said until recently there had never been a planned direction for
the Air Force Internet.
There was no policy or guidance on what we wanted to achieve
and what units needed to do to achieve a web presence. In addition,
problems with the procurement and installation of web-design software
and trained members being posted and you had a web site that was
a patchwork of web sites of varying quality and accuracy,
GPCAPT McDonald said.
The new Air Force web site has a consistent look and is
easy to navigate. Unlike the old web site, we have planned and
structured this web site with the end user in mind, be they serving
members, former members or the general public.
One of the features is the introduction of a template system that
outlines what is the minimum information each unit needs to provide.
All units need to do is fill out the template in Microsoft
Word and email it to the Air Force Webmaster. Units no longer
have to design, develop and maintain individual web sites or purchase
costly software, GPCAPT MacDonald said.
An Intranet web site has been created to provide information on
the new Air Force web site.
It can be found at http://intranet.defence.gov.au/raafweb/sites/AFINT/
