Runners shine at Shoal Bay

TWO Air Force teams from RAAF Base Darwin competed with great success in a 16.2km road race called the Shoal Bay Classic on Friday, August 29.

The two Air Force teams enjoyed a great day out with the Air Force Red team winning the open teams category and Air Force Blue team finishing runner-up.

Sergeant Wendy Jones also took line honours in the veteran women’s individual category.

The day attracted a record number of team/individual entries with everybody enjoying the event and the awards ceremony breakfast afterwards.

Congratulations to all personnel involved in what was a great event.

Air Force Red team: CPL Troy Fuller, CPL Sean Bonsey, CPL Darryl Engler, ACW Karen De Weerdt, LAC Cameron Barnes, SGT Steve Bow.

Air Force Blue Team: CPL Micah Hunter, FLTLT David Mitchell, LAC Tim VanZanten, CPL Margrett Bonsey, LAC Martin Showell, CPL Corey Johnson.

Individual competitors: SGT Wendy Jones, CPL Locksley Burns, CPL Micah Hunter and LACW Samantha Sharples.
