The
Air Command Band tunes up for the Townsville Centenary Encore
concert.
|
MORE
than 15,000 people crammed into Strand Park on the beach-front
to enjoy the impressive entertainment line-up at the Townsville
Centenary Concert, which featured our own Air Command Band.
Corporal Stephanie Lambert of the Air Command Band was one of
the highlights of the concert on August 8, performing songs from
Sunset Boulevarde and Guys and Dolls.
Other guest artists were Rob Guest (Phantom of the Opera) and
Annalisa Kerrigan (My Fair Lady) as well as an array of gifted
local performers.
A standing ovation and calls of encore aptly greeted
the final song of the concert.
Comprising a cast of more than 300, Encore paid tribute to much-loved
musicals such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Grease
and Annie on a million-dollar outdoor stage that was the biggest
seen in far north Queensland.
Fireworks lit up the warm night sky as the finale Do You Hear
the People Sing from Les Miserables was sung by the cast and audience
alike.
The shows producers and Townsville councillors agreed that
the concert was a fantastic success and gratefully acknowledged
the high level of professionalism and experience that Flight Lieutenant
John Buckley and the Air Command Band brought to the event
The band is a favourite of many Townsville residents who attended
the Federation North Spectacular held during 2000 at the Townsville
Entertainment Centre.
