Fishing

Hockey

  • The 9th Australian Masters Games is to be held in Canberra from October 31 - November 9, with the ADF Hockey Association entering teams again this year. The major requirement for entry is to be old enough, and for hockey this is 30 years of age at December 31, 2003.
    Last year three teams (two men’s and one women’s) competed in the World Masters Games in Melbourne, and it is hoped the same numbers can be achieved for the Australian Masters.

RAAF Rugby League

Running

  • The ADF Running and Athletics Association invites all permanent personnel, Reservists and Defence civilians to take part in the ADF Cross Country Championships at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia on Friday, September 19. All age categories are catered for.

Soccer

  • The 2003 Albatross/Nirimba Cup soccer competition will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at Christison Park, Old South Head Road, Vaucluse in Sydney. Further information and nominations from LS Kim Rofe at the Navy Indoor Sports Centre on (02) 9359 2406 or email kim.rofe@defence.gov.au. Nominations close on September 22.

Softball

  • The ADF Softball Association will hold its 2003 national championships from November 10-14 at Georges River Softball Association grounds (accommodation at Holsworthy Barracks). National men’s and women’s teams will be selected for a tour to New Zealand in December. Those wishing to compete should contact their State representatives, with details from president WGCDR Peter Davis on (02) 6265 6406, or email peter.davis@defence.gov.au.

Squash

  • ADF Squash is planning an overseas tour in 2004, probably to New Zealand in the first two weeks of August 2004. Nominations and expressions of interest are sought from interested (registered) ADF Squash Racquets Association players and officials wishing to be part of the tour. Nominations are to be submitted to the Air Force representative, SGT Daryl Bessell on email Daryl.Bessell@defence.gov.au by 31 October for consideration by the selection panel.

Touch Football

  • The 12th ADF National Touch Football Championships will be held at RAAF Base Amberley from November 27 - December 4. Nominations close August 29 to WO2 Ross Crowe, ph. (07) 3332 7908 or email ross.crowe@defence.gov.au
