MORE
than 150 Air Force administration officers from pilot officer
to group captain attended the inaugural Administration Officers
Conference at RAAF Base Williamtown on August 6-7.
Organised by the Directorate of Military Administration - Air
Force, the conference addressed shortfalls in the system and provided
valuable input into the future of RAAF personnel administration.
Director General Personnel - Air Force Air Commodore Ken Birrer
highlighted the importance of administration and the need for
experienced Adminos to mentor junior personnel in support of an
expeditionary Air Force.
In my job I see every day the importance of good advice
on personnel issues to individuals and commanders alike,
AIRCDRE Birrer said.
Our doctrine must be flexible and adaptable. These are two
qualities we also need to instil in our people as well
as initiative if we are to achieve what the people of Australia
require of us in the future.
CAF Air Marshal Angus Houston was guest of honour at the formal
dinner held as part of the conference, and spoke of his appreciation
of the role of the Admino in peace and operational environments.
AIRMSHL Houston also paid tribute to Wing Commander Grant Buggy,
Executive Officer Combat Reserve Wing, RAAF Base Glenbrook, who
is retiring after 33 years distinguished service in the Air Force.
The conference will become an annual event.
