Training facilities to be relocated

RAAF College training facilities will be relocated from RAAF Base Point Cook and RAAF Base Edinburgh.

Minister for Defence Robert Senator Hill said the transfer of the officer training college to East Sale and recruit and airman training to Wagga would deliver long-term benefits to the Air Force and the two communities.

“The current college facilities at Point Cook and RAAF Edinburgh are outdated and this decision will provide a modern environment for this very important Air Force training capability,” Senator Hill said. “The officer training will be located at RAAF East Sale, with about 630 students through the college every year, and the recruit and airman training going to RAAF Wagga with about 1100 graduates annually.”

Senator Hill has directed Defence to finalise work on a development and procurement plan for the project. This will allow the appointment of a project consultant.

Expressions of interest for a managing contractor for delivery of the project will be called for early next year.
