SOME days are better than others for a mail clerk in the MEAO.

For Leading Aircraftwoman Deborah Boyce, her day started with the usual mountain of mail in hot and dusty conditions.

Just as she was about to tackle the mail, an agitated Commander, Wing Commander Guy Burton, approached her regarding her standard of dress and bearing.

It may have been due to time differences, it may have been due to the covert operations of her friends and superiors, but Deborah had no idea that she was granted acting rank from the morning of July 25.

“I thought there was something going on but this is awesome,” Corporal Boyce said when she was presented with her correct rank slides.

“To be promoted in the MEAO is an important highlight of my career.”

CPL Boyce is the PERS/Postal Clerk for the Maritime Patrol Aircraft Task Group. In her five years of service she has had two deployments – first to Timor and now the MEAO.
