Demands
there for new supply manual
CONTAINING
10 volumes, 232 chapters and more than 6000 pages, the Defence Supply
Chain Manual (DSCM) wont replace Harry Potter atop the bestseller
list, but its a vital resource for the Standard Defence Supply
System (SDSS) user base.
Produced by the Directorate of Logistics Processes and Procedures
(DLPP), including personnel from the SDSS Upgrade Project team,
Management System Branch and National Codification Bureau, the manual
contains detailed processes and procedures to support the operation
of SDSS v4.
Released on July 28 and located on the Defweb, the DSCM includes
full web-enabled functionality. The primary entry point will be
the Defence Documents web page under Departmental Manuals.
References to related flow charts are hyperlinked to the appropriate
annexes for easy viewing, related areas of the DSCM are hyperlinked
for ease of access and flow of information, and appropriate external
documents such as Defence Instructions, CEIs and the DPPM are also
hyperlinked.
Using a Windows-style menu, users can navigate their way around
the manual by pointing and clicking on the appropriate section for
review.
Sponsorship of the manual will reside with Commander Joint Logistics
Command through DLPP.
The DSCM, over time, will replace, in full or in part, a number
of single-service publications including AAPs, ALI-Tech 8 &
10, and MEMA.
The effectiveness of the manual depends on the willingness of users
to share and communicate information designed to overcome any deficiencies
or to improve its scope and content.
Suggestions for improvement can be directed via a Change Request
proforma available on the site at http://defweb.cbr.defence.gov.au/home/documents/departmental/mdepartm.htm
